Charles Rennie Mackintosh
Charles Rennie Mackintosh is a Scottish architect, artist and designer, the founder of the Art Nouveau style in Scotland. Mackintosh developed a distinctive decorative style, in which geometric elements are connected by swaying, flaring lines, which was typical of European decorative art at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
In his architectural and design projects, he used the “from the inside out” method - the house, furniture, and interior decoration were designed as a single harmonious system. Macintosh things are always geometric and functional, have slender proportions and are not burdened with excessive decor.
Charles Rennie Mackintosh became an innovator of the Art Nouveau constructive line with its characteristic straightforwardness of forms and their clear construction. His craftsmanship was based on a typically carpentry geometrically rectilinear construction with a predominance of vertical lines.
